A strategic guide to engaging occupiers and buyers in commercial property

A practical guide for property professionals

This book is written for anyone involved in promoting commercial property - whether you're launching a new scheme, repositioning an asset, or trying to attract occupiers and investors.

It’s based on real-world experience - not theory - and built around practical tools, frameworks and examples drawn from UK projects.

What’s inside:

  • How to define a clear brand identity for your property

  • Strategic marketing and PR planning

  • Media relations, thought leadership and digital tools

  • ESG communications and avoiding greenwash

  • Crisis handling and reputational management

  • Templates, checklists and examples you can use straight away

Why I wrote this book

In commercial real estate, the space itself is only half the story. The rest is how well you communicate its value - to occupiers, investors, and the wider market.

Over the years, I’ve seen how marketing and PR are often left too late, underused, or misunderstood. That’s a missed opportunity. When handled well, communications can shift perceptions, boost visibility, and directly influence leasing and sales outcomes.

I started out as a business space agent in the late 1980s. Since then, I’ve worked on countless campaigns - from new developments to tired assets in need of repositioning. Along the way, I’ve seen what works, what doesn’t, and where well-meaning teams often lose focus.

This book is a practical guide based on that experience. It’s written for people who need to get commercial property noticed - not just by putting up signage or firing out a press release but by taking a strategic, joined-up approach.

You don’t need a marketing degree or a big budget. You just need to think clearly about what makes your property stand out - and how to tell that story well.
